How to make money in music: This is a question many of us ask, as we continue to see the industry fall victim to free downloads, online streaming, and away from physical album sales, and so on and so forth. The answer is this; we must get creative. Do not loose hope. The days when you throw your hands in the air yelling, “WHAT AM I DOING HERE?!” just remember there is a way. And maybe it has become our job to make the public aware just how much it effects us with illegal downloads and loss of sales. Do they know that it can cost $10.000 + to record an album? Maybe then they would say, hey, you know what, I’m going to support the artist with this $1.29 download, rather than pirating it off some website, because I want to keep music alive. If you can buy a coffee, you can buy a song and support an artist. Yes, I live in a perfect dream world where there are candy cane tree’s and marshmallow clouds, where there is world peace, and financial success for passionate artists who pour their hearts and souls into the art they create. If my dream world does not become reality, there’s always constant, smart touring, film and television placement, and merch sales. Amen to merch.
