Okay, let’s get one thing straight.
I’ve been hearing a lot of comments lately towards musicians of the new generation and new age, that I’m not too fond of. Are they 100% wrong? No. But I just want to clear the air on something.
Music is evolving. It’s growing, it’s changing, but still has roots. There are many artists creating music from electronic sources, but don’t let that take away from the talent that it takes to actually do that. I just began working with a producer/DJ who creates wicked tracks, something that not a lot of people can do, and I want his work and others like him to not be put at a lower grade of talent because they are doing something different.
There ARE people playing and recording “real instruments” music these days. Please stop saying that music has lost soul. Music is still being created by people who put their entire hearts and souls into what they are creating. Music still has a soul. And there are still a lot of artists out there who work themselves to the bone to pursue a life as an artist. Who work multiple day jobs PLUS run their own business as an independent artist. I myself put everything that I am and everything that I have into my music and career as an aspiring musician, so I find it a bit off when people say we are lazy and don’t put any heart and soul into music anymore. So please. If you aren’t hearing the type of music that you enjoy say on the radio or on a streaming site or wherever it is that you get your music from, just search for another avenue. There is so much incredible music being created “these days” so don’t knock it. Work for it. Just like we do. And hey, while I’m ranting, for the love of all that is holy, PAY for your music. It’s 99 cents, or $1.29 for a single, and not a lot for an album. You pay for all your clothes and food right? So pay for your art. Or go see some free live music and support the artists that way. Yes, there is some pretty not appealing music being created right now that is more of a energy boost to help people keep going in their crazy day, and some pretty dry lyrics, but that’s not all that’s out there. I promise 🙂 Music is good 🙂 And the voices on some of that stuff are incredible! Serious range and tone that should not be overlooked. And hey, there’s nothing wrong with playing the oldies -my fav! Just ask my record collection… 😀
That’s my opinion.
Thank you.
Rant complete!
In summary:
1. Music still has soul.
2. Pay for the art. It’s not much, but it goes a long way for the artists to keep making music for You.
3. Love you all. Thank you for your support, and for reading my rants. (haha)
Much love!
