The very talented, Luca Fogale, and I have teamed up to record a holiday song with all online proceeds going to the Salvation Army. The song is titled, Christmas Without You.
I wrote this song two years ago when I thought my boyfriend was leaving back to Australia permanently. It broke my heart, and inspired this song. It’s more of a Joni Mitchell, “River” style of Christmas song, in that it’s not all mistletoe and apple pie. It’s funny that my first holiday song, which placed on the Top 40 charts across Canada in 2010, is titled “Christmas With You”. It’s a much more fun, upbeat song. It’s basically my life during the holidays with my family. We blast the Elvis Christmas record and go skating, dance around while cooking/baking. Good times. Christmas Without You, is a poetically hopeful song. The story of two lovers not wanting to be separated due to uncontrollable circumstances. “Please keep my heart with you while I’m away, because I’m not ready or willing to let it stray.” True love is stronger than any circumstance, and can withstand any challenge.
Christmas Without You was produced by Luca Fogale and Samuel Woywitka.
It features myself and Luca Fogale on vocals, and Luca on guitar and keys.
Single art work by Savannah Rose.
Christmas Without You is available online at: https://jodipedersonmusic.bandcamp.com
